Camiguin PWDs receive DOLE P10K livelihood starter kits

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, July 25----The 20 Persons with Disability (PWDs) and parents of PWDs receive livelihood starter kits of various entrepreneur ventures on 19 July 2019 during the 4th Provincial PWD Summit at Provincial Capitol in this municipality. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X) – Camiguin Provincial Field Office (Cam PFO) Chief Emmanuel G. Toledo personally handed over the PhP 10,000.00 worth of starter kits to each beneficiary in the province.

Toledo said the approved projects were consumer or sari-sari store (11 starter kits), hog raising (8) and tempura vending (1).

“The Department awarded the starter kits through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) hopeful that the projects could provide income opportunities to the beneficiaries, making them productive citizens of the community despite their disabilities,” Toledo said.

The 20 individual projects were coursed through the Baylao Small Coconut Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative as the Accredited Co-Accredited (ACP) through Chairman Wilfredo Orillo. The ACP took charged of purchasing the tools, raw materials and equipment requested by the beneficiaries vis-à-vis their approved project proposals.

DILEEP beneficiary, DOLE Best Video Individual Livelihood Project Awardee and the province’s PWD  Federation President Axel Salise, assisted the PWD-beneficiaries in making their proposals and complying with the necessary documents required of the program.

One of the beneficiaries, Ma. Resma Rambuyon of Cabuan, Guinsiliban, has been on wheel chair since three years old due to polio. She has four children, two of whom, graduated from college and have their own families while the remaining two are still studying in college. Her only source of income prior to the DILEEP assistance is banana cue vending in one of the areas in the public market and the earnings of her husband as a habal-habal driver, which she said were not sufficient for their needs.

Aside from selling banana cue, they [DOLE] granted my tempura vending project. This additional earning will surely augment the family expenses and the education needs of my children).”

Toledo said the schedule for the beneficiaries’ Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDT) and orientation of Project May ASENSO is on 1 August 2019.
