Mis. Or. Provincial PESO targets CY2020 institutionalization

Cagayan de Oro City – The Misamis Oriental Provincial government envisions Public Employment Service Office (PESO) institutionalization in CY 2020 as the highlight during the PESO League of Managers monthly meeting held recently in Lugait, Misamis Oriental. In coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X) – Cagayan de Oro City (CDO FO) and Misamis Oriental Provincial Field Offices (Mis. Or. PFO), the regular meeting was attended by 24 PESO Managers of the entire province, including PESO Cagayan de Oro (CDO) to update themselves on current employment facilitation policies.

The Provincial government of Misamis Oriental PESO institutionalization envisions to create seven plantilla positions. The PESO institutionalization is by virtue of PESO Act 1999 which was made into law through Republic Act No. 8759. Institutionilized PESO strengthens its operations and enable them to provide multi-dimensional employment facilitation services all over the country through the supervision of the local government units (LGUs) and technical support of the DOLE through improved service quality, sustained and accessible services.

Moreover, DOLE-X Assistant Regional Director Estrella U. Pahalla commended PESO CDO and its partnership with DOLE-X CDO FO for its successful network and mutual support in advocating/implementing employment programs like the Labor Market Information (LMI), skills registry profile and the formulation of the Labor Market Update newsletter. She encouraged other PESOs to replicate the said feats and suggested to the Mis. Or. provincial PESO for the creation of its own official gazette through the PESO Employment Information System (PEIS) covering the entire province, sustaining a database consisting of manpower supply with qualifications and skills of job seekers and updating/posting of vacancies by the employers. PEIS is operationalized through the PESOs’ prompt updating of skill demand and manpower supply which spells the employment situation in the locality.

The PESO extends services to jobseekers, employers, students, out-of-school youth, migratory workers, planners, researchers, LMI users, persons with disabilities (PWDs), returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), and displaced workers at the grassroots level.
