90 Panaon beneficiaries receives PhP 500K emergency employment

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental, January 13, 2020 --- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X), through its Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. PFO) under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Displaced/Disadvantaged workers (TUPAD) program released PhP 500,000.00 worth of wages to some 90 recipients/displaced workers in Panaon Municipal Hall, Misamis Occidental.

 

As a continuing environmental concern, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Panaon Mayor Francisco Paylaga ventured to livelihood projects and emergency employment for its constituents focusing on community upliftment projects like cleaning up of coastal areas, removal of trash and debris from beaches and waterways, determine the source of environmental pollution, at the same time transitions behavioral perspectives and ways of life of the people.

 

DOLE-X Mis. Occ. PFO Chief Leonardo G. Rodrigo led the release of PhP 500,000.00 cost of wages aimed to augment incomes to the unemployed poor through short-term community work with a temporary employment that can improve their living conditions.

 

Chief Rodrigo also explained that the wages was based on the statutory minimum wage of Region X in Category I at Php 365.00 per day multiplied by the actual number of days work as approved in the work program.

 

Municipal Mayor Paylaga in behalf of all the beneficiaries extended his appreciation to DOLE-X for the assistance extended to their community and committed to endeavor as a community to continually improve their living conditions, create opportunities, and enjoy the economic and sociological benefits of the local and national government partnerships.

 

TUPAD, a component of DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP), is a community-based (municipality/barangay) program package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and unemployed poor, for a minimum period of ten days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
