118 La Salle University graduates prepare for employment


OROQUIETA CITY, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL, February 6, 2020---- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X) through its Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. PFO) conducted a Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) and Labor Market Information (LMI) seminar to 118 graduating students on the 17 January 2020 in La Salle University, Ozamiz City, this province.


On highlighting the purpose of the seminar, DOLE-X Mis. Occ. Provincial Chief Leonardo G. Rodrigo said, “We encourage the students as they are about to enter the world of work after graduation, to engage into insightful learning sessions through labor education seminar to equip them with knowledge information and proper understanding on their duties and responsibilities in the industry of their choice and career which they wish to pursue.”


The program was conducted in coordination with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the academe sector headed by Jemarie Villones who expressed her willingness to arm new graduates with skills and information on work ethics, the culture of productive and decent work and other responsibilities in the workplace.


During the conduct of the seminar, the students gained practical knowledge and substantial information on Labor Standards Laws. Likewise, updated labor market information (LMI) including jobs that are in demand and hard-to-fill occupations, as well as the employment status in Region X was tackled.
