475 Oro displaced/disadvantaged workers employed in TUPAD

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X)- Cagayan de Oro City Field Office (CDO FO) conducted an orientation on Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program to 475 beneficiaries of the various barangays of first District of the city on 10 February 2020 at Barangay Covered Court, Carmen, here, marking also their first day of employment.

 

“It is gratifying to see that these beneficiaries are employed, even for just a short span of time, through our TUPAD Program especially that they needed it most as victims of various calamities and tragedies, both man-made and natural that hit our city recently. We want to ensure to everyone that the main concern of our Department is to promote gainful employment opportunities especially to the vulnerable sector,” DOLE-X CDO FO Chief Ebba B. Acosta said.

 

TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed which shall be paid 100% of the prevailing regional daily minimum wage.

 

The 450 beneficiaries engaged works in social community projects like street cleaning, de-clogging and maintenance of canals, barangay beautification for a period of ten working days and the other 25 beneficiaries for 15 days for the same task, which will end on 21 February 2020 and 28 February 2020 respectively.
