DOLE-X strengthens labor education to Mis. Occ. grade 12 students


OROQUIETA CITY, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL, March 9, 2020 ---- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X) - Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. PFO) in its promotion for gainful opportunities to every Filipino worker towards a productive employment, initiated a series of intensifying labor education and pre-employment coaching at the provincial level.


DOLE-X Mis. Occ. PFO Chief Leonardo Rodrigo said the orientations were conducted on the 4th of March to 34 Grade 12 students of Bunga National High School in Oroquieta City and on the 5th of March to 146 graduating students of Sacred Heart, Calamba and 122 students of Calamba National Comprehensive High School.


Rodrigo said, “Senior high students with the right career path and equipped with the appropriate labor standards information, will ultimately make ‘skills-fit’ and ‘job-ready graduates.” 


The basic rights and responsibilities of the workers and employers were highlighted, as well as other topics on General Labor Standards (GLS), Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSH), pre-employment guide on writing application letter and resumes, job interviews and things to consider before contract signing.   


Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) capacitates would-be-entrants to the labor force with the necessary skills, and apt information on work ethics and realistic understanding of the world of work.
