CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - 7 December 2020. Highlighting the Department of Labor
and Employment's (DOLE) 87th anniversary celebration, and in light of the Department
of Education-X's (DepEd-X) call for continuous delivery of quality education to learners
amidst the pandemic, the Northern Mindanao Federation of Family Welfare Committees
(NMFFWC) of the DOLE-X donated today, 775 reams of A4 bond paper to DepEd-10.
Aside from corporate social responsibility, NMFFWC Chairperson Urchielyn C. Basalio
initiated the generous deed as part of Family Welfare Program's (FWP) 10 dimensions
under Education.
In her short message, Basalio disclosed that NMFFWC's aim is to provide assistance to
the regional federation’s pre-identified public school beneficiaries with the materials
needed in reproducing the students’ Self-Learning Modules as they have shifted
distance learning.
The donations were coursed through the DepEd-X's Brigada Eskwela program, an
annual nationwide initiative originally intended to maintain and refurbish school facilities
but now repurposed to strengthen the schools’ capacity to provide students with self-
learning modules.
During a simple turnover ceremony held at DOLE-X, DepEd-10 Regional Director Dr.
Arturo B. Bayocot expressed gratitude to DOLE-X OIC Regional Director Albert E. Gutib
for his unparalleled initiative to ensure continuous education in NorMin.
“I believe that the students represent the future of our nation,” says Bayocot. “This is the
best example for Filipino spirit of bayanihan, DOLE-X and NMFFWC's initiatives are
worth emulating. Thank you for having the heart to help our children". He added.
Meanwhile, Gutib in an interview emphasized that the donation is DOLE-X’s way of
celebrating Christmas with the children through the kindness of the 250 member
companies of the regional federation. “We will continue supporting the government
through our advocacy, especially at this trying time.” He said.
For 87 years, DOLE remained committed to shape the future of the youth by being
NMFFWC's partner in nation-building and addressing the present challenges for a
brighter tomorrow.
