NorMin DOLE renews partnership commitment with ChildFund Phils

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY --- Feb. 10 --- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X) strengthens partnership with ChildFund Phils., Inc. (CFPI) in protecting and advancing the worth and rights of children.

 

DOLE-X OIC Regional Director Albert E. Gutib said his leadership will continue to partner with CFPI, stressing that “It has been a pleasure to work along with you because you brought positive change in the communities where child labor (CL) activities in Northern Mindanao exist.”

 

“It is an inspiration to see how our works have progressed. We are in the same road supporting the vision on CL free Philippines with the goal to remove one million children from CL by 2025,” Gutib said.

 

He made the statement, when Building Capacity, Awareness, Advocacy, and Programs (BuildCA2P) officers Michelle Robin-Bascal and Gheny Mhae Lakiman paid a courtesy call at DOLE-X regional office. Also in said meeting were Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) Regional Focal Person Glenford C. Labial; Director II Atheneus A. Vasallo and Assistant Regional Director Estrella U. Pahalla.

 

The said non-government organization (NGO) had several engagements with DOLE-X on various interventions and efforts to address CL problem in the region to promote acceptable conditions of work in crop agriculture. The director appreciated the 2-year partnership for its increased support with DOLE-X CLPEP implementation. He particularly praised the leadership role being demonstrated by the said NGO, indicating, “This is another challenging year for us. We will do everything possible to combat this social issue in our country.”

He pointed out that the Department continues to function a vital role in profiling 14,929 CL for CY 2021, including referral, case management and removal of children engaging economic activity in worst forms.

 

BuildCA2P is a project of CFPI that is committed to build a grassroots movement, empower vulnerable families, connect survivors to grievance mechanisms and services, and reduce the risk that children will be harmed by performing hazardous work.
