DOLE-X Camiguin celebrates Labor Day for the informal sector; World Day Against Child Labor; 123rd I

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, June 3 --- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X) Camiguin Provincial Field Office (Cam PFO) Chief Emmanuel G. Toledo said to celebrate Labor Day for the informal sector, World Day Against Child Labor and the 123rd Independence Day with the province’s stakeholders through Trabaho-Negosyo-Kabuhayan for the informal sector workers on 11 June 2021 at Cabuan Community Village, Cabuan, Guinsiliban, here.


Toledo said the highlights include program presentations of partner agencies like Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and Technology, Technical Education and Skills Development Administration, and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources on their respective programs against child labor.


Moreover, the advocacy videos on Child Labor (DOLEkula entries); commitment setting from selected barangays on the elimination of Child Labor; and turn-over of DOLE livelihood approved projects are also in the forefront during the day.


Expected participants are the province’s 30 informal sector workers who are mostly the livelihood beneficiaries, barangay officials and parents of child laborers.


The activity boosts the advocacy on the said programs of DOLE and its partner agencies for sustainable livelihood of the workers in the informal sector in order for them to alleviate from poverty; enhances the livelihood of these beneficiaries through the strengthened inter-agency partnerships; and promotes the protection of children in the entire province.


A total of P2,015,908.88 worth of livelihood projects will be turned-over, comprising five groups and three individual projects benefitting 293 beneficiaries.  The approved projects are mostly fishing equipment and gears; poultry; abaca fiber trading; native chicken production; hog raising project and eco-tourism related projects under the KASAMMA Organization as their Accredited Co-Partner.


The DILEEP is the umbrella program for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program and the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP). Per Department Order No. 173, Series of 2017, “The DILEEP seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce vulnerability of risks of the poor, vulnerable especially the child laborers, and marginalized workers either through transitional emergency employment, and promotion of livelihood and entrepreneurship.

DOLEkula is a one-minute DOLE-X-wide digital film competition that encourages the creation of cinematic works of its employees that articulately interpret a Filipino child’s story against child labor activities in an artistic integrity.


This year’s 123rd Philippine Independence Day celebration Trabaho-Negosyo-Kabuhayan Job and Business Fair celebration in the region is anchored on the theme, “Kalayaan 2021: Diwa ng Kalayaan sa Pagkakaisa at Paghilom ng Bayan”.
