LabSec Bello turns-over more than PhP 1.7M livelihood projects and other DOLE programs; benefits mor

Cagayan de Oro City --- Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III, on his regional visits, personally turned-over Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) livelihood Nego Karts (Negosyo sa Kariton) worth PhP 871,000.00 to 50 members of the Provincial Capitol Vendors Association (PCVA) on 24 September 2021 at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, here.

 

DOLE-X Misamis Oriental Provincial Field Office Chief Errol A. Natividad said the financial assistance covered the purchase of vending carts on various street foods and provision of livelihood tools to enhance the existing livelihood projects of the members.

 

Moreover, Bello turned-over PhP 831,250.00 rice trading project to the 1,200 members of Jobnet Multipurpose Cooperative under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program/Kabuhayan Program which provides financial assistance for income generating livelihood and entrepreneurial ventures for eligible beneficiaries to enable them to expand their livelihood into viable and sustainable business.

 

Together with Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac and Misamis Oriental Provincial Governor Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” Emano, Bello awarded PhP 125,000.00 worth of checks as financial assistance to the beneficiaries of the Tulong Pangkabuhayan Para sa Pag-unlad ng Samahang OFWs (Tulong PUSO) for Bobontugan OFW Members and Dependents Association; Balik Pinas! Balik Hanapbuhay Program (BPBH) amounting to PhP 60,000.00 to three beneficiaries for PhP 20,000.00 each; Livelihood Development Assistance Program (LDAP) under the National Reintegration Center for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the amount of PhP 20,000.00 and Project Agapay para sa Naulila ng OFW amounting to PhP 10,000.00.

 

“Gusto kong tandaan ninyo na ang assistance na ibinigay sa inyo ay tulong para sa inyong pangkabuhayan na makatulong sa inyong pamilya. Dapat ay hindi maghilahan pababa kundi magtulungan upang makamit ang tagumpay at maging mabuti ang inyong buhay,” Bello said to all the beneficiaries.

 

Bello’s regional visit is in line with President Duterte’s order in ensuring the DOLE programs and projects are directly delivered to its intended beneficiaries.

 

Gov. Emano thanked Bello and the department for the continued partnership and assistance in uplifting the economic lives of his constituents. He pledged his support especially in the effective implementation of the programs.

 

Likewise, PCVA President Roy P. Basanez said, “Nagpasalamat ko sa DOLE nga gihatagan ang among grupo ug vending carts nga maplastar ang among pagpaninda ug ang dugang nga gamit kay mapulihan ang mga daan. Manghinaut lang mi nga unta mahatagan ug dugang puhunan kay tungod sa pandemiya naapektuhan gyud ang among panginabuhian.”

 

[We thank DOLE for granting our group vending carts for a proper display of our products and the additional tools to replace the old. We hope that we can still be given additional capital since we were greatly affected by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.]

 

Sec. Bello also awarded eight establishments in the private sector on DOLE Safety Seal, as compliant to the government’s health and safety guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus in their workplaces, namely: (1) Philippine Sanjia-Steel Corporation; (2) Cagayan de Oro Gas Corporation; (3) One Stop Warehousing Solutions Inc.; (4) R.T. Quiogue Construction Corporation; (5) Lalaine Wood Processing; (6) Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp.; (7) C-One Steel Corporation; and  (8) Universal Robina Corporation.

Nego Kart is a project for ambulant vendors in major cities of the country. The project assists the ambulant vendors in making their existing livelihood undertakings grow into profitable and sustainable business; thus, making their income level at par with that of the minimum wage earners, at the least.  

 

The Tulong-Puso is a one-time grant assistance that aims to support the formation, enhancement or restoration of livelihood projects/undertaking of OFW organizations. The financial assistance is based on the project requirement up to a maximum of PhP 1 Million for OFW organizations with 51 or more members.

 

While BPBH is a package of livelihood support/assistance intended to provide immediate relief to returning member-OFWs (distressed/displaced) amounting to a maximum of P20,000.00 as start-up or additional capital for the livelihood project.

 

Bello was joined by Undersecretary Renato L. Ebarle; DOLE-Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns Director Ma. Karina P. Trayvilla; DOLE-X Regional Director Albert E. Gutib; OWWA Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac; OWWA-X OIC-RD Harry Borres; DOLE-X Mis. Or. PFO Chief Natividad in the entire event. Also present were Governor Emano and his Board Members.
