Floramie Subdi, a mother of two and TUPAD beneficiary said, “This year’s Labor Day brought new beginnings to my life. The PhP 3,650 wage I received today will really help my children in their daily transportation fare and allowances especially that the face-to-face classes have started.”

SPIMS beneficiary Shelamie Cabatuan said, “I’m very thankful to the program of DOLE and OWWA. Though I like to work abroad because of the many places I can visit, nothing can change the happiness when you are working at home.”

Cabatuan was once a domestic worker in Hongkong and is now a full time Department of Education teacher facilitated under the SPIMS program.

“As one of the OFW teachers who dreamed to work back home and be united with their family, DOLE and OWWA certainly made our dreams come true. I am looking forward that this program will help more Filipino teachers abroad land a job at home,” Cabatuan said.

Valmores said, “In celebration of the 120th Labor Day, the DOLE, through its different programs for the Filipino workers, acknowledges the victories and progress of our labor sector throughout the years.” He said that Labor Day is a reminder to everyone of their rights and DOLE’s role in ensuring these rights are preserved and protected.

OWWA-X Family Welfare Officer Jasper John N. Ramos, NRCO Regional Coordinator Marry Gil D. Palisbo, and Local Government Unit of Malaybalay City Public Employment Service Office Manager lawyer Anna Marie R. Bergado supported the event as part of the region-wide Labor Day celebration.
