Malaybalay City, Bukidnon --- The Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE-X) - Bukidnon Provincial Field Office (Buk PFO) conducted the culmination program for its 132 Government Internship Program (GIP) beneficiaries under the 1st and 4th Districts of Bukidnon on 2 December 2016 at their respective Congressional Offices.

DOLE-X Buk PFO Head Raul L. Valmores informed that the interns received certificates signifying their completion of the program on 30 November 2016.

The Department’s implementation of the GIP is governed by DOLE Administrative Order No. 39, Series of 2014, which provides opportunities and engages young workers to serve the general public in government agencies/entities’ projects and programs at the national and local level.

Valmores added that the said program is to provide new college graduates opportunity to demonstrate their talents and skills in the field of public service with the ultimate objective of attracting the best and the brightest who want to pursue a career in government services.

“This is a three to six months internship agreement where beneficiaries, 18-25 years old, are compensated with a stipend/allowance equivalent to 75% of the current minimum wage,” Valmores explained.

The beneficiaries were also socially protected through the insurance of the Government Service Insurance System, which is paid by DOLE-X.

Moreover, the first Congressional District under Congresswoman Maria Lourdes Acosta-Alba employed 89 interns, while the fourth Congressional District under Congressman Rogelio Neil P. Roque signed up 43 interns.
