Turnover of DILEEP grant by DOLE-X Mis. Occ. to 20 Sapang Dalaga Gazer’s Livelihood Association be
Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental --- The Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE-X), through its Misamis Occidental  Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. PFO), led the actual turnover of financial assistance worth PhP 200,000 of livelihood assistance to the 20 beneficiaries of Sapang Dalaga Gazer’s Livelihood Association (SDGLA) on the 16th of December 2016 at DOLE Mis. Occ. PFO.
 
Upon the approval of DOLE-X Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante, the grant was released under the Kabuhayan Program of DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) that particularly seeks to contribute to poverty reduction, and vulnerability to risks of the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized workers.
 
Director Agravante said, “The project will provide self-employment opportunities to the less fortunate beneficiaries of the municipality, thus, augmenting their family income.”
 
Hog raising is among the very common livestock ventures in the province which makes swine industry a viable commercial sector for the community.
 
With the support of the Public Employment Services Office (PESO), the DOLE’s counterpart in the Local Government Unit (LGU), on some necessary preparations, financial management and development trainings, most of the beneficiaries possessed basic skills in castration, vaccination, disease management and control, among others.
 
Melonie B. Gongob, the Association President informed that each member-beneficiary were allocated 2 piglets ready for fattening and a sufficient supply of feeds and medicines.
 
Gongob added, “The beneficiary’s counterpart are the pig pens, their labor, management and proper care of their livelihood project for sustainability.”
 
Further, DOLE-X Mis. Occ. PFO Head Leonardo G. Rodrigo encouraged the beneficiaries to do their duties and responsibilities with respect to the approved proposals because not all are lucky to be a recipient of the government’s assistance. He reminded that project liquidation will be done 60 days from the date of the turn-over ceremony accompanied by constant monitoring by the PFO staff.
 
Moreover, the beneficiaries made a letter of thanks directly addressed to DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello extending their deepest gratitude to the joint efforts of the Director Agravante and PFO Head Rodrigo who willingly and wholeheartedly implemented the said project, extended great favors and continued services and support intended for the less-privileged people in their locality.
 
One of the beneficiaries thanked, “Rest assured that with this project, cooperation and coordination among members will be strengthened, for we love and will take the best care of this project.”
