Employees’ Compensation Program Seminar Advocacy in the Province of Bukidnon
Valencia City - The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE-X) through its Bukidnon Provincial Field Office (Buk PFO) conducted a one-day seminar on Employees’ Compensation Program advocacy at on  22 February 2017 at the Hotel de Susana & Resort, Patag Bagontaas, this city.
DOLE-X Buk PFO Head Raul L. Valmores informed that some 176 participants attended composed of employers, human resource officers, company representatives and government officials of the province.
ECC Chief Information and Public Assistance Division (IPAD) Ma. Cecilia E. Maulion informed that ECC, being an Organization for International Standardization 9001:2015 certified strives for continuous improvement in its services through strengthened advocacy.
Maulion clarified that ECC intensified awareness of workers and employers about the rights, benefits and privileges under the EC program. She emphasized prevention, compensation and rehabilitation, and other EC Program reforms.
Likewise, ECC  Medical Officer II, Dr. Raymond C. Banaga of the Work Contingency Prevention and Rehabilitation Division (WCPRD) expounded the prevention and rehabilitation advocacy as well as the work hazards discussed in details.
Dr. Banaga emphasized that hazards maybe encountered even during office hours and the means of reducing its effects and the rehabilitation services can be availed in the ECC.
Also ECC Information Officer IV Alicia S. Borres discussed the EC compensation program, as well as the various benefits for loss of income benefits, medical services, appliances and supplies, caregiver’s allowance, rehabilitation services, death and funeral benefits.
ECC Deputy Executive Director Atty. Jonathan T. Villasotto, facilitated the open forum on legal issues.
GoodFarms Trading Corporation Aida Portillas, one of the participants said, “I am very thankful to ECC thru DOLE-X Bukidnon that our company was invited and I am the representative since I really did not know this program and such benefits were already existing”.
The ECC highlighted the promotion of a culture of safety and security not only to currently employed workers but as well as to the future members of the labor force.
