Cagayan de Oro City – The Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE-X), through its Western Misamis Oriental Provincial Field Office (WMO PFO) collaborated with the Employees Compensation Commission-X (ECC-X) and the National Conciliation and Mediation Board-X (NCMB-X) to refresh the Misamis Oriental (Mis. Or.) Human Resource (HR) practitioners in maintaining harmonious working relationships between employees and employers on 16 March 2017 in De Luxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.
DOLE-X WMO PFO Head Ebba B. Acosta informed that the said orientation-seminar was participated by some 52 HR practitioners from different types of industries like retail, manufacturing, lending, insurance, education.
Acosta emphasized that the HR practitioners are the bridges between the employer and employees.
Meanwhile, NCMB staff Junaliza Aragon elaborated, “It is their role as HR personnel to maintain that the rights and obligations of both employees and employers are fulfilled.”
Aragon further advocated the importance of creating a Labor Management Cooperation or LMC in their companies. This is a venue where even non-organized or non-unionized companies can amicable settle the employees’ disputes.
Likewise, ECC-X personnel Stella D. Obice informed that work-related injuries, diseases, and even death may be shouldered by their agency thru the Social Security System (SSS) for private company employees and from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) for government employees and uniformed personnel.
ECC Exequiel Salcedo III also informed the participants of their Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang may Kapansanan (KaGabay) program. “This programs aims to help persons with work related disabilities thru providing livelihood training and assistance; possible deployment; and free physical and occupational therapy and other related rehabilitation services,” he added.
DOLE-X and their attached agencies continues to promote gainful employment opportunities, develop human resources, protect workers and promote their welfare and maintain industrial peace through this seminar.
