DOLE Misamis Occidental will celebrate Labor Day festivities; hosting Job and Business fair and lead

Oroquieta City--- Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. PFO) together with the social partners, will give tribute to the working man and extol the dignity of labor on 1 May 2017 in celebration of the 115th Labor Day with a theme, “Matatag na Kabuhayan at Trabaho, Tungo sa Progresibong Pagbabago”.

 

“The celebration will begin with the traditional mass at 6 o’clock in the morning to be held at the Holy Rosary Parish Church. A motorcade around certain areas in the city will follow,” said the DOLE-X Mis. Occ. PFO Chief Leonardo G. Rodrigo.

 

As highlight of the Labor Day celebration, the Misamis Occidental PESO Managers Association (MOPEMA) in partnership with DOLE-X, will hold a Job Fair at the Provincial Cultural Farmers’ Training Center, Capitol Drive, this city.

 

Approximately 320 jobs are available for local employment from 15 participating companies from different industries, while the bulk of the job vacancies are job opportunities abroad with 4,185 slots from 8 companies and recruitment agencies.

 

Top local job vacancies are Customer Service Representatives (200 positions); Service Crew (15); Cashier (15); Salesman (15); and Management Trainee (10). Likewise, top overseas vacancies are Household Service Worker (692); Pipe Fitter (450); Instrument Fitter (435); Domestic Helper (5); and Industrial Electrician (5).

 

The Job Fair shall be held alongside with the Business Fair to be participated by the different business establishments, products of DOLE-assisted livelihood projects and skills demonstration from Technical-Vocational Schools of the province.

 

Other 7 National Government Agencies are also committed to participate and render their services: Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will provide livelihood opportunities; Social Security System (SSS) will issue SSS number and will provide helpdesk services especially for “kasambahay” jobseeker/ participants; Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) will issue Tax Identification Number (TIN) and other services.

 

Lastly, Rodrigo emphasized the commitment of the government to help the Filipino people confront the challenges of poverty by creating decent and productive jobs to further grow and strengthen the economy.
