DOLE-X Mis. Occ. targets business establishments for LHP Seminars; target reached by 100%

12 workers and management representatives of Almar Freemile and Financing Corporation at Villaflor, Oroquieta City have committed to a harmonious working relationship as a result of the recent conduct of Labor Relations, Human Relations and Productivity (LHP) seminar by the Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE-X), through its Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. PFO), at the premises of the said company on 9 June 2017.

DOLE-X Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao directed all the PFOs in the region to advocate industrial peace thru LHP as one of the programs of the Department to address possible conflict at the plant level.

LHP is DOLE’s contribution in the labor education of both workers and business owners and managers, and is also aimed to address the challenge of productivity and business competitiveness in the work place.

DOLE-X Mis. Occ. PFO Chief Leonardo G. Rodrigo explained that the half-day seminar served as an avenue for the company management and staff to expand their knowledge on labor relations and other concepts such as, but not limited to security of tenure, alternative dispute resolution strategies; human relation concepts including employee motivation, meaningful communication, positive values; and productivity techniques through 5S.

Likewise, on 7 June 2017, the Provincial Office also conducted another LHP seminar to several management and working staff of Misamis Occidental Electrical Cooperative-1 (MOELCI-1) at Calamba municipality with some 21 participants.

In line with DOLE’s advocacy, the department particularly encourages workers and employers in the private sector to become responsible partners in the promotion of productive and decent workplace by actively adopting LHP’s three-core module.

LHP will keep employees up-to-date of the current developments in labor laws; guarantee professional growth in knowledge, skills and attitude in line with the changes in the business system and help improve their continuous productivity in their jobs.

During the open forum, Genevib Demit, administrative officer of Almar Freemile expressed her appreciation for the timely intervention of DOLE stating that the clarifications on matters of employment will effectively improved the working environment of the company.

“Ultimately, the applicability and flexibility in the implementation of DOLE Programs had substantially changed the way labor disputes are handled. It felt like a great achievement that we are still on June of 2017 and we have already accomplished our target for LHP set for the year.” Rodrigo declared.
