DOLE-X coaches 2,023 Bukidnon Senior High students on Career Guidance advocacy programs and Labor Ma

Malaybalay City, Bukidnon --- On August 7-10, 2017, Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE-X), through its Bukidnon Provincial Field Office (Buk PFO), conducted six Career Coaching activities to 2,023 Senior High School students from different schools, namely: Bukidnon National High School (1,690 students); Halapitan National High School (192); San Fernando Community College, Inc. (56); and Little Baguio National High School (85). The activities were conducted in partnership with the schools’ designated Guidance Counselors and with the support of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the local government units where the schools are located.

As one of the Department’s flagship programs being implemented as employment facilitation intermediation service for the youth, the Career Guidance Advocacy Program (CGAP) provides the students with relevant labor market information that could guide them in making informed career choices. Career Guidance also aims to immerse the youth, their parents and the community in general on the realities of the labor market so that appropriate and strategic career decision may be had.

“This activity is very relevant especially to the graduating Grade 12 students who will be proceeding to college. Through this program, students may be able to be properly guided in choosing their careers wisely in preparation for work in the future. Aside from Career Coaching, the latest labor market trends on the demand and supply of jobs is beneficial to them as well,” said San Fernando PESO Manager Felisa Jumarito.

Aside from career guidance, the CGAP aims to provide the youth with access to information on education and training options available to young people so that they will be able to make the most of the opportunities presented to them.
