DOLE-X & NRCO turnover livelihood starter kits to 20 Gingoog OFWs

Gingoog, Misamis Oriental --- The Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE-X), thru its Eastern Misamis Oriental Provincial Field Office (EMO PFO) and the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) released to 20 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) livelihood starter kits on 11 August  2017, this city.

DOLE-X EMO PFO Chief Errol A. Natividad said that under the NRCO’s Balik Pinay Balik Hanapbuhay Program, extended help and support to distressed OFWs thru financial livelihood assistance in the form of starter kits and at the same time facilitated self-employment in the community.

Natividad reported that the said 20 OFWs received starter kits on baking pastries amounting to PhP 10,000.00 each. Furthermore, prior to the release, a training on preserving and expanding their capital was sponsored by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)  thru the Bread and Pastry Production at Kinoguitan National High School, Misamis Oriental.

“OFWs are the real heroes in our country,” Natividad said. “Aside from helping the country to alleviate poverty, they sacrificed their own lives to give to their families better lives. Nothing can quantify their sacrifices,” he added.

The beneficiaries were thankful to the assistance awarded to them, “Daghan salamat sa tanan, sa DOLE, NRCO, PESO, kay Sir Errol ug sa tanan na nag organized sa kaning programa (Thank you very much to everyone, to DOLE, NRCO, PESO, to Sir Errol [Natividad] and to all who organized this event,” said Ms. Marilou Labadan, a former baby sitter in Dubai for seven years. She was defrauded by his employer by not paying the amount of salary in her employment contract. Moreover, she also experienced physical harassments which convinced her not to return anymore abroad.

The activity was also in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Gingoog City Public Employment Service Office thru Ms. Jessie F. Reyes.
