Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental----- To promote and facilitate the compliance on labor laws, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. X (DOLE- RO X), through its Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. A total of 100 supervisory, rank and file, and human resource employees were expected to participate in the seminar to orient and motivate them on their significant role in harmonizing the implementation and enforcement of local and national labor laws relative to the issuance of permits and other similar requirements.

DOLE-X Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao directed all the PFOs in the region to advocate industrial peace thru orientation of LGU’s on Labor Laws as an advocacy activity under the Labor Laws Compliance System (LLCS).

The orientation was one of DOLE’s contribution in the labor education to the employees to keep them up-to-date of the current development in labor laws, guarantee professional growth in knowledge, skills and attitude in line with the changes in the world of work and help address the challenge of productivity and competitiveness in the workplace.

DOLE-X Mis. Occ. PFO Chief Leonardo G. Rodrigo explained that the seminar will serve as an avenue for the management and staff to expand their knowledge on labor relations and other concepts such as, but not limited to, wages and wage-related benefits, security of tenure and alternative dispute resolution strategies to ensure workers’ protection through the efficient and effective enforcement of all labor laws.

In line with DOLE’s advocacy, the Department particularly encourages the government employees and those in the private sector to be responsible partners in the promotion of productive and decent workplace by actively adopting and showing commitment towards exemplary adherence of the GLS.

Likewise, Rodrigo further explained that close coordination, linkages and partnership with the LGU’s will enable DOLE to further improve and update registry of establishments being maintained by the provincial and regional offices.
