DOLE-X participates interagency lecture on community support program to Mis. Occ.10th IB to kick sta

Oroquieta City --- President Rodrigo R. Duterte, at the start of his administration, has tasked the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to work with other government agencies in strengthening the employment programs to alleviate poverty and improve the standard of living of the Filipino people.

 

Last 11 January 2018, DOLE Regional Office No. X (DOLE-X) – Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. PFO) converged with the different national government agencies in conducting lectures on govt. programs to the 10th Infantry Battalion (IB) personnel at the Headquarters of 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, Philippine Army, Barangay Burgos, Oroquieta City.

 

Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Ryan N. Severo explained, “The 10th IB is holding a Community Support Program (CSP) Training to prepare our personnel during their immersion to the different affected communities with the numerous number of rebel returnees reported.”

 

He further added that the training promotes a culture of peace in the community and ensures their constituents are less susceptible to recruitment of any terrorist/criminal groups.

 

DOLE-X Mis. Occ. PFO Chief Leonardo G. Rodrigo enthusiastically said, “We are glad to impart to the participants our services and programs that are applicable to them, such as, Single-Entry Approach (SENA) request for assistance on labor disputes; Anti-Illegal Recruitment and Trafficking in Persons (AIR-TIP); Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES); and the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP).

 

DILEEP is DOLE’s contribution to the government’s agenda of reducing poverty through the promotion of livelihood and entrepreneurship and transforming them into community enterprises, consistent with the national goal of inclusive growth, poverty alleviation, and job creation.

 

“The eligible beneficiaries for DILEEP in the community receive livelihood assistance in the form of tools and equipment, along with training cum production, and skills training and upgrading to capacitate them to pursue income-generating activities,” Rodrigo added.

 

Furthermore, the grant assistance will be used for various livelihood to efficiently utilize raw materials and resources that abound in the respective localities to develop and transform existing livelihoods into sustainable community-based enterprises.

 

Partner agencies are the Departments of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD); Interior and Local Government (DILG); Trade and Industry (DTI); Education (DepEd); Agrarian Reform (DAR); Agriculture (DA); Environment and Natural Resources (DENR); Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA); and National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).

 

1st Lt. Moris Paulo F. Dela Paz, CMO Officer of 10IB gratefully thanked DOLE-X Mis. Occ. for facilitating the occasion and for educating their staff to the programs in which the community can avail of. “We will surely relay the information to the rebel returnees as they are ready to reintegrate and re-establish their lives by taking opportunities in income generation through wage and self-employment,” he added.

 

In a closing statement, Rodrigo said, “It is another year to bolster the convergent efforts of the government agencies in educating the public on the services we deliver to address poverty issues and unemployment. Through this training, we aim to help more individuals earn decent income.”
