DOLE-X Mis. Occ side by side team up with Technical Vocational Institution to boost employment facil


Oroquieta City -- The local employment Job Fair, organized by the Oroquieta Agro—industrial School (OAIS), through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Academe informed that 45 job applicants were registered during their school activity on 6 April 2018 at the OAIS Function Hall, this city. The activity is in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE-X) through its Misamis Occidental (Mis. Occ.) Provincial Field Office (PFO) with the theme, “Magsanay, Magka-hanapbuhay, Magtagumpay”.


Job Fairs facilitate the job searching of all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers, graduates of training institutions, displaced workers, returning OFWS, and other employees seeking professional advancement.


“Likewise, today’s activity does not only focus on Jobs Bridging but also a Special National Technical Vocational Educational Training (TVET) Enrollment Day to showcase our specialized offered short courses such as horticulture, masonry, massage therapy, organic agriculture, pipefitting, rubber production and welding,” explained by Vocational School Administrator II Engr. Lee R. Catane.


Also present were the representatives from the PESO of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Oroquieta City and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Provincial Director Miraluna N. Baje-Lopez.


Initially, DOLE-X Mis. Occ. PFO Chief Leonardo G. Rodrigo said in his speech, “The job fair activity today will fast track the employment facilitation of jobseekers and employers, specifically in the Construction Industry that realigns to the present administration’s “Build, Build, Build Program” wherein contractors need 201,600 workers, by hitting them in one venue to reduce the cost, time, and effort, particularly on the part of the applicants.”


A total of 60 job vacancies were offered by five participating construction companies: DDS Builders, Mindanao Rock, Victoriano C. Lim Construction, RRJ Builders Construction and General Merchandise, and AFZ Zillion Construction Corporation. Out from the vacancies, 32 job applicants were qualified for their applied positions and referred for interview.


Rodrigo emphasized the commitment of the government to help the Filipino people confront the challenges of poverty by creating a decent and productive jobs to further grow and strengthen the economy underscoring President Duterte’s Ten-Point Socioeconomic Agenda which is the acceleration of infrastructure to robust economic growth with the aim to reduce poverty rate to 13% by the year 2020.
