More than 10K jobs available in Oro Labor Day

 

Cagayan de Oro City – At least 9,961 job opportunities are offered to more than a thousand jobseekers in Northern Mindanao’s job and business fairs, simultaneous throughout the country and spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on 1-2 May 2018 during its 116th Labor Day celebration.

 

As of Wednesday, 18 April 2018, some 9,961 jobs are available at the Lim Ket Kai Mall Atrium, this city, the DOLE- Regional Office No. X Director Joffrey M. Suyao, said.

 

Of the confirmed job vacancies solicited, Director Suyao disclosed that around 5,541 will be available for local employment from 60 participating private companies, mostly from the retail sector. Also, the DOLE-X is expecting around 2,305 job vacancies for overseas employment from 7 Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) accredited recruitment agencies.

 

Top local job vacancies are in the construction industry from EEI Corporation (2,860 positions); Arriba Telecontact, Inc. (303); retail/services of Southern Arms Corporation (225); Phil. Call Center Institute (200); and services of Josepheans Proficiency Services (172).

 

Likewise, overseas vacancies are mostly on skilled workers. Most of the overseas manpower services job posts are in the United Arab Emirates and middle-east countries.

 

Moreover, government agencies also hiring are the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) with 1,504 vacancies, Army Recruitment for Mindanao, APMC, PA (550 vacancies), and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) with 61 job postings.

 

This year’s celebration is also highlighted through its nationwide Business Fair on 1-2 May 2018 at the Rotunda, also in Lim Ket Kai, this city. Livelihood projects within the province will be showcased in the event dates.

 

Suyao informed that the region-wide job and business fairs replicate the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) Concept forged by DOLE and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) which aims to bring employment opportunities through entrepreneurship for our workers in the informal sector or at the grassroot level.

 

Provincial Labor Day activities on 1 May 2018, include: foot parade around Malaybalay City; Program at Kaamulan Folk Arts Theater, Malaybalay City with ceremonial turnover of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment (DILEEP) Kabuhayan grants, as well as the ceremonial turnover of school supplies to some identified child laborers from five selected school in the city. In Misamis Occidental Province, a 6AM Eucharistic Mass at the Holy Rosary Parish Church, Oroquieta City will be observed, followed by a Motorcade around Oroquieta City and after which a Livelihood Fair and Skills Demo will be held in ABC Gymnasium, Oroquieta City. Also, in Iligan City, the Federation of Democratic Labor Organization invited DOLE-X to attend their sponsored Eucharistic Mass at St. Michael’s Cathedral, foot parade within the city, then followed by a program at the Freedom Park, City Plaza.

 

Together with the DOLE Provincial Field Offices, the different provincial, city, and municipal local government units, through their respective Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs), various Tripartite Industrial Peace Councils (TIPCs), and other allied-partner agencies will simultaneously celebrate the event in the respective provinces of the region. 

 

The DOLE will be joined by members of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) comprising the DOLE attached agencies--Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO), National Conciliation Mediation Board (NCMB), National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RWTPB), Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), and POEA and will be bringing their services in the One-Stop-Shop Desks provided during the Job Fair in Lim Ket Kai mall. Other government agencies offering their services are National Bureau of Investigation (NBI-X) and Pag-ibig Fund CDO Central Members Services Branch.

 

 Participating jobseekers may avail the various pre-employment services from corresponding government agencies, as well.

 

Director Suyao announced that the jobseekers must be fully prepared when they participate in the job fair.

 

“I invite our jobseekers to participate in the Job Fair and ready themselves with their proper business attire, bring multiple copies of resumes, school credentials, certificates of employment, clearances, photos, passport (for overseas applicants), and other pertinent pre-employment documents needed by employers,” Suyao added.

 

To expedite registration, applicants are advised to pre-register at the second floor, east concourse (in front of Marks and Spencer), Lim Ket Kai Mall, on April 19-21, 2018, 10:00am until 5:00 pm. Please present duly filled-up forms to Registration in Lim Ket Kai mall.

 

This year’s month-long Labor Day celebration in the region is anchored on the theme, “Pagpupugay sa Manggagawang Pilipino: Dangal ng lahi, kabalikat sa progresibong pagbabago!.”
