DOLE-X’s 250K DILEEP Livelihood Project to assist women’s association in Panaon

Panaon, Misamis Occidental --- The Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE- X), Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. PFO), released a financial assistance worth PhP 250,000.00 under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) Project to the 15 beneficiaries of the Sumvigla Women’s Association on 10 April 2018 at Panaon Public Market, this province.

DOLE-X Mis. Occ. PFO Chief Leonardo G. Rodrigo articulated that the grant was part of DILEEP aimed to provide sustainable-alternative livelihood to the economically disadvantaged women from the three barangays of the municipalities of Sumasap, Villalin and Baga, Misamis Occidental. The program is the Department’s contribution to the achievement of the government’s agenda of inclusive growth through massive job generation and poverty reduction.

Prior to the turnover of the check, a short program was held which was attended by Municipal Administrator Quirino Morales, representing Mayor Francis Paylaga, who graciously welcomed the participants. “The recipient association has the mission to meet its economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations thru jointly-owned enterprise that will offer wholesale and retail grocery items intended for retail and in turn shall give added income for the members,” Quirino explained.

As reported by the Assoc. President Nakpil Virtudez, the store was established within the vicinity of the public market selling at retail prices some basic necessities such as rice and other grocery items used daily in every household of the members in particular and the community as a whole at competitive prices.

After the ceremonial turnover, the project beneficiaries extended their appreciation, commitment and gratitude to DOLE-X, “Isip mga housewives, dako kaayo ni nga tabang sa among mga pamilya ug siguradohon namu nga mudako ni nga negosyo isip pasalamat namu sa DOLE.” (As housewives, this is a very big help to our families and that we will make sure that this project will prosper as a sign of our gratitude to DOLE-X).

On the other hand, Rodrigo gave emphasis on how the members should operate in accordance with the Project Proposal. “DOLE is here to provide resources to economically vulnerable associations to help them get started, engage in livelihood projects to improve incomes and standard of living in general. Moreover, DOLE envisions long-term sustainability that poses a challenge to everyone, hoping you do your part, help each other nurture the business and make it expand on a long-term basis”, Rodrigo further insightfully stated.
