RTWPB-X CONDUCTED “WAGE CLINIQUE” TO DOLE-10 INSPECTORS

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board - X (RTWPB-X), an attached agency of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), conducted “Wage Clinique” to DOLE - Region 10 Regulatory Unit Inspectors last October 18, 2010 at De Luxe Hotel,   Capt. V. Roa St., Cagayan de Oro City from 2pm to 5pm. “Wage Clinique” is a free technical assistance program provided by RTWPB-X, DOLE on wage matters.

The objective of the activity is to provide orientation, analysis and solutions on technical matters relative to minimum wage compliance as mandated under Republic Act No. 6727. At the moment, RTWPB-X scheduled series of “Wage Clinique” sessions on the newly issued Wage Order No. RX – 15 which took effect last August 22, 2010 giving priority to the DOLE-10 Regulatory Unit Inspectors being the monitoring body in the implementation of Labor Laws, basically on the minimum wage compliance.

During the session, Ms. Estrella U. Pahalla, Board Secretary VI of   RTWPB – X, presented the Salient Features of Wage Order No. RX – 15 which highlighted the new minimum wage rates, its coverage, the exemptible categories and requirements for wage exemption application, prescriptive periods and suggested computation on wage distortions.

The main issue raised during the open forum includes the observation of DOLE Inspectors to establishments that were automatically exempted from the minimum wage through the BMBE Law.  The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Region 10 Regional Director and RTWPB-X Vice Chairperson, Dir. Alicia V. Euseña, promised to issue an Advisory for BMBE Beneficiaries in coordination with the Local Government Unit.

The DOLE-10 Inspectors’ “Wage Clinique” was participated by the RTWPB-X Board Members headed by its Chairperson and concurrent DOLE-10 Regional Director, Atty. Alan M. Macaraya, with Vice-Chairpersons: Dir. Alicia V. Euseña (Regional Director of DTI-10), Dir. Leon M. Dacanay, Jr. (Regional Director of NEDA-10), Labor Sector Representatives: Mr. Jose B. Ares of ALU-TUCP and Engr. Milbert M. Macarambon of AWATU-TUCP,  Management Sector Representatives: Mr. Arsenio L. Sebastian III of Oro Chamber, PCCI and Rev. Prudencio T. Plaza, Jr. of COCI, and DOLE Assistant Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano with the DOLE-10 Regulatory Unit Inspectors headed by Mr. Tago G.
