DOLE-X assists 24 Jimenez-MisOcc women beneficiaries thru P250K grocery livelihood project

 

Jimenez--- The Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE- X), thru Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. PFO), attended the blessing and grand opening of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) grocery project worth PhP 250,000.00 for the 24 beneficiaries of the Federated Women’s Association of Jimenez on 8 June 2018 at Jimenez Public Market, this municipality.

 

DILEEP is the department’s contribution to the achievement of the government’s agenda of inclusive growth through massive job generation and poverty reduction. The livelihood programs were made known to the underprivileged women’s associations through the unceasing advocacy of DOLE X Mis. Occ. PFO thru its Chief Leonardo G. Rodrigo and in partnership with the Jimenez Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Arnulfo Guimalan, Jr., as well as the living testimonies of those who previously benefited from any of DOLE’s livelihood programs.

 

Prior to the actual blessing, a short program was held for the purpose. Municipal Mayor Rosario K. Balais and Vice Mayor Joselito Chong graciously welcomed the participants and recognized the efforts of DOLE-X under Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao for granting the amount of assistance to the livelihood project of the said association.

 

“The recipient association is composed of unemployed women who belongs to the vulnerable sector of our locality, thus, the need to empower them, increase their confidence, social awareness and leadership qualities by giving them livelihood assistance to uplift their quality of life,” Balais explained.

As reported by the Assoc. President Erlinda Quilo, the store was established within the vicinity of the public market and bus terminal to sell products that are feasibly salable like mineral water, soft drinks, cell cards, rice and bran set in a lower price compared to the direct competitors nearby to attract customers.

 

On the other hand, Rodrigo gave emphasis on how the members should operate in accordance with the project proposal.

 

The beneficiaries were grateful and wished for the department to continue being an instrument in assisting those who belong in the marginal sector secure a sustainable livelihood.
