More than 8K jobs available at the 2018 Kalayaan Jobs Fair; TNK Forum on product development for liv


Iligan City --- As of Wednesday, June 6, 2018, about 8,053 jobs are available for all jobseekers to be offered during the 120th celebration of Philippine Independence Job and Business Fair on 12 June 2018 at the School Gymnasium of the Mindanao State University- Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), Tibanga, this city.


Spearheading this major event is the Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE-X), thru its Lanao del Norte Provincial Field Office (LDN PFO), the City Government of Iligan’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO), and MSU- IIT in partnership with the Office of the Alumni Relations and Placement  (OARP), with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA-X) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-X). The event will open 8:00 in the morning until 5:00 PM.


DOLE-X LDN PFO Chief Remegio S. Cabañog informed that as of this writing, 24 local companies, ten overseas agencies, and seven contractors confirmed attendance. The following are the top available positions: for local, BPO – customer service and technical support representatives and customer care ambassadors (1,390 vacancies); construction – heavy equipment operators (451), carpenters (300) and steelmen (200); bus drivers (100) and bus conductors (100).


Meanwhile, overseas available posts include: domestic helpers/cleaners (100 vacancies); skilled workers – steel fixers (150), masons (150), pipe fitters (100), instrument fitters (100), industrial electrians (100), and carpenters (100). Most of the available vacancies are bound to Middle East countries.


To expedite registration, applicants are advised to pre-register online until Monday, 11 June 2018 thru, the official government job search portal in the web.  Pre-registered applicants shall have the advantage of proceeding directly to the Job Fair screening area.


Likewise, Cabañog informed that the region-wide job and business fairs replicate the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) concept forged by DOLE and DTI) which aims to bring employment opportunities through entrepreneurship for our workers in the informal sector or at the grassroot level.


21 livelihood associations in the city and LDN province will have the opportunity to consult with DTI on product development or measures to adopt in improving their livelihood ventures. This will be conducted on the same day at 1:00 in the afternoon at the College of Business Administration Building of MSU-IIT of the city.


The DOLE will be joined by members of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) comprising the DOLE attached agencies --- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO), National Conciliation Mediation Board (NCMB), National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) – Iligan City Sub-RAB, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RWTPB), Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and POEA will be at the Job Fair venue to provide One-Stop-Service. Other government agencies offering their services are the Social Security System; Philhealth; Pag-ibig Fund; Philippine National Police; Philippine Army; Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency; DTI-X LDN PFO; Department of Social Welfare and Development-Regional Office No. XII (DSWD-XII); Office of the Civil Defense Region-X (OCD-X); Task Force Bangon Marawi; LGU-Marawi City; and DOLE-ARMM LDN PFO. Participating jobseekers may avail the various pre-employment services from corresponding government agencies.


Cabañog encouraged the jobseekers to prepare when they participate in the job fair.

“I invite our jobseekers to participate in the Job Fair and ready themselves with their proper business attire, bring multiple copies of resumes, school credentials, certificates of employment, clearances, photos, passport (for overseas applicants), and other pertinent pre-employment documents needed by employers,” Cabañog added.


The Job and Business Fair is part of the 120th Independence Day celebration in the region, anchored on the theme, “Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan.”
