338 Bukidnon TUPAD Program workers receive PhP 2.6 million emergency employment salaries

 

Province of Bukidnon --- The Department of Labor and Employment, Region X (DOLE-X), Bukidnon Provincial Field Office (Buk PFO) had fully implemented the DOLE’s regular funds on Tulong Pangkabuhayan para sa mga Displaced/Disadvantage (TUPAD) workers program for the province of Bukidnon. This program benefited 338 beneficiaries from the municipalities of Talakag, Manolo Fortich, Sumilao, Impasug-ong, Lantapan, and San Fernando of this province.

 

DOLE-X Buk PFO Chief Raul L. Valmores reported that the worker-beneficiaries received a total amount of PhP 2,634,372.00, each accepting a daily wage of Php 338.00, through Mlhuillier money remittance service provider. The granted amount is enumerated as: (1) Municipality of Talakag with 63 beneficiaries, each receiving PhP 6,760.00 for 20 days of work, totaling PhP25,880.00; (2) Manolo Fortich has 60 workers, receiving PhP 9,464.00 for 28 days work with a total of PhP 567,840.00; (3) Sumilao – 56 workers who each received PhP 6,760.00 for 20 work days’ worth PhP 378,560.00; (4) Impasug-ong - 55 beneficiaries receiving PhP 6,760.00 for 20 days of work amounting to Php 371,800.00; (5) Lantapan has 54 beneficiaries with Php 7,098.00 each for work rendered 21 days, totaling PhP 383,292.00; and (6) San Fernando with 50 beneficiaries each receiving PhP 10,140.00 for 30 days of work amounting to PhP 507,000.00.

 

The DOLE’s TUPAD program is governed by Department Order No. 173, Series of 2017, which gives opportunities to displaced/disadvantage workers be engage in emergency employment in their municipalities. It aims to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce vulnerability to risks of the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized workers, which is in pursuant to the goal of inclusive growth by the government.

 

Ms. Luna E. Concepcion, a 60-years old beneficiary of Manolo Fortich expressed her gratitude to the Department, “I am very thankful as one of the beneficiaries of TUPAD. The salary I’ve received help me in my small buy and sell business. Thank you so much to DOLE and the LGU, especially the PESO for facilitating this program for us, poor members in the community in benefiting government programs.”

 

 Ms. Concepcion resides at Brgy. Tankulan, Manolo Fortich, and is living with her unemployed husband. Due to poverty, even with a little support from their children who were living separately, Ms. Concepcion was always seeking for possible income-generating activities. Upon receipt of her salary amounting to PhP 9,464.00 she then ventured into buy and sell business. “The salary I’ve received was used in purchasing the sako-bag in a wholesale price in Cagayan de Oro. I will then sell it to our neighbors who will use the item in the market and other related agricultural activities. After a week in this endeavor, I have almost doubled the salary I received!” she gratefully concluded.

DOLE-Bukidnon Provincial Field Office together with the PESO Office released the ML reference number at LGU San Fernando Municipal Hall to 50 beneficiaries, each receiving an amount of Php 10,140.00 for 30-days work.
