DOLE-X Mis. Occ. grants DILEEP assistance to Dullan Norte and Dolipos Bajo associations

 

Oroquieta City --- The Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE- X) Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. PFO), spearheaded the ceremonial turnover of check as livelihood financial assistance worth PhP 250,000.00 to Dullan Norte Farmers Association for the Swine Fattening project on the 27th of July 2018 at Dullan Norte Barangay Hall, this city.

 

The grant was released under the Kabuhayan Program of DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) that particularly seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and vulnerability to risks of the poor and marginalized workers.

 

DOLE-X Mis. Occ. PFO Chief Leonardo G. Rodrigo said that with the high demands of meat product and relatively fast capital turnover, swine fattening is a profitable enterprise and can definitely help improve the quality of life of every member of the association if the project is properly sustained.

 

For the project start up, the association will procure 40 weanlings/piglets, feeds and medicines, wherein 2 piglets will be given to each beneficiary. It will take 4 to 5 months for the swine to reach a minimum weight of 80-85 kilograms per head.

 

Association President Lenefe D. Postero reported that when a large number of hogs are to be marketed, the members must observe proper shipment and transport handling to minimize losses due to shrinkage, bruises, injuries and possible deaths.

 

Likewise, on 29 June 2018, Tul-an Pangkabuhayan Women’s Association consisting of 28 members from Dolipos Bajo had their ceremonial turnover of DILEEP worth PhP 180,000.00 livelihood assistance upon the actual deliveries of five sewing machines and five sewing machine zigzagger.

 

“Karon na magsugod among 15 days training, kay human ani, mag start nami ug dawat sa orders from clients base sa ilang demands and designs na gusto”, (This is the start of our 15 days training, after this, we will start accepting orders from clients based on their demands and designs), told by Tul-an Association President Alien B. Icao.

 

Meanwhile, Rodrigo urged all beneficiaries to effectively and efficiently implement the project in accordance with the approved proposal.

 

The beneficiary associations were very grateful to DOLE-X for granting the livelihood assistance that will definitely help in terms of generating the income as well as aiding employment in their barangays.
