20 cattle heads livelihood project released to Laguindingan Gasi MPC

Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental --- The Local Government Unit (LGU), as the Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) of the cattle fattening project of Gasi Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC), collaborated with the Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. X (DOLE-X) under its DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) for the release of 20 cattle heads on 14 March 2019 in Barangay Gasi, this municipality.

In coordination with the DOLE-X Misamis Oriental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Or. PFO), Chief Errol A. Natividad informed that the said livelihood project will lessen and save the farmer-members’ expenses in plowing and harrowing the fields when the cattle reaches its mature age. The members can also generate income after tilling their farm by rendering services to other farmers within or in nearby barangays.

Chief Natividad further explained that the direct beneficiaries are 35 active farmer-members of the cooperative who were selected based on the qualifications set by the Board of Directors. Likewise, he added that the target recipients are marginalized farmers and rural women whose livelihood depends mainly on farming. He is optimistic that the financial assistance granted by DOLE-X is in support with the thrust of the LGU, particularly in the development of livestock in the municipality. Also, this means that the community will gain a significant number of households with improved income to uplift them from poverty.
