CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY– The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X) -Cagayan de Oro City Field Office (CDO FO) conducted the first in-house digital media workshop to its 10 personnel on 26-29 July 2022, here.

DOLE X CDO FO Chief Emmanuel Toledo said that it was imperative that staff members be trained in using and managing social media as it is the dominant form of communication in this generation.  He also underscored that this is the “Cafeteria Generation,” in which all knowledge is readily available online.

“As a government agency, we must be cautious about how we use the platform since doing so would either do good or harm on the organization’s image and reputation,” Toledo said.

Digital Media Specialist and staff John Alfred Mascariñas facilitated the entire four-day workshop focusing on (1) improving and strengthening the presence of Facebook accounts, branding and best practices; (2) Photoshop workshop especially on creating quote cards; (3) Premiere Pro workshop with emphasis on the introduction to television production, creation and hands-on video editing, video shoot for content; and (4) hands-on training on production of Now You Know video.

The main goal is to boost interaction, expand fan base, and real-time presence on Facebook of the field office. The office hoped to build pages with interesting, up-to-date, relevant and relatable locally produced content.

Currently, DOLE X Cagayan De Oro City Field Office Facebook page has 19,000 followers. It is hoped to increase its followers as an advocacy platform on all the programs, projects and services of the Department.
