Minergy Station Services Manager Gaudencio C. Bascon, Jr. said, “Labor Law compliance is very important against possible labor disputes in the workplace. To maintain compliance, we must ensure our employees fully understand with working knowledge on the relevant labor laws, regulations and procedures.”

Moreover, Minergy Human Resource Officer Jeal May Ann Baricuatro said the seminar will develop employee empowerment and cooperation among workers and improve their working conditions.

“The workshop will equip our Labor Compliance Committee members on labor standards, develop capacity to assess the company’s practices, and gain confidence in handling and managing non-compliance cases. It also helps the company prevent financial penalties and lawsuits due to failure in following said labor laws,” Baricuatro said.

Also the concepts of DOLE’s Family Welfare Program will be introduced to promote workers’ welfare and their families as keys to workplace productivity and improved labor-management relations.

“Labor compliance is beneficial for business. To comply, employers must know the relevant laws, regulations and procedures especially on DOLE’s enforcement and inspection authority,” Natividad said.

After the workshop, the employees and management are expected to learn self-assessment or self-audit on the compliance of labor laws and standards.
