MAMBAJAO, CAMIGUIN — The 7,601 town beneficiaries were hired under the Tulong Panghapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-X) and oriented on its program implementation by the Camiguin Provincial Field Office (Cam PFO) on a month-long series, this province.

DOLE-X Cam PFO Chief Arlyn Z. Bael said the beneficiaries are all residents of the five municipalities of the entire province and qualified under the program since all are self-employed, underemployed, and seasonal workers whose means of livelihood were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bael said in coordination with the provincial government thru Governor Xavier Jesus D. Romualdo, the series of orientation were conducted on 11 October 2022 in Guinsiliban with 1,048 beneficiaries; 12 October 2022 in Sagay (879); 14 October 2022 in Catarman (1,853); 15 October 2022 in Mahinog (1,323); and 18-19 October in Mambajao (2,498).

Bael said each beneficiary will receive P3,900 or a total of P29,643,900 as salary for the 10 days’ work starting on 13 until 26 October 2022 for work community services like street sweeping in barangay roads, vegetation control, and disinfection in their premises to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

The orientation was also supported by the respective town mayors and corresponding Public Employment Service Office (PESO) managers.

TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 90 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.”
